DIY Oil Pulling ChewsAfter learning what all the hype was about oil pulling I decided to make my own oil pulling chews. I found a simple and fun DIY recipe I like to make with essential oils. My 12-year-old son loves to make these with me–as an added bonus he will actually try oil pulling from time to time!

All you will need: 1 cup coconut oil, 1 silicon mold, 1 jar/container and 30 drops of essential oil of your choice.

Directions:

  1. Melt coconut oil on low heat.
  2. Remove from heat and add 30 drops essential oil of your choice.
  3. Pour into the silicon mold.
  4. Place in the freezer or the fridge until the molds are solidified.
  5. Remove from the mold and store in an airtight container in the fridge.
  6. Use one daily for oil pulling!

Note: I placed the molds in the freezer for 15 minutes followed by 10 minutes in the fridge and the coconut chews popped right out of the mold.

You can find cute molds at your local craft store, Michael’s store or here.

I have listed some suggested essential oils below for your reference. I personally like to use the protective blend which includes clove and cinnamon essential oils. Both oils are great for promoting oral health.

  • Peppermint– Frequently used in toothpaste and gum for oral health.
  • Clove– Powerful cleansing agent. Helps clean teeth and gums while promoting fresh breath.
  • Protective Blend– Containing both Clove and Cinnamon, supports the body’s natural cleansing agent defenses.
  • Cinnamon Bark– Promotes oral health and has cleansing properties.
